Keypad - E7/two rate

If you have an economy 7 or E7 smart meter (also sometimes referred to as a day/night, or a two rate meter), follow the steps below to get your meter readings.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a simple solution to easily identify which is your day or night meter reading, though some meters may specify which is which on the meter.

If you are unsure, a tip would be during the day to note down both meter readings along with the time, then come back an hour or so later and do the same thing again. You should see that one meter reading has advanced, thereby indicating that this is the day/normal rate.

  • Press 6 on your smart meter keypad.
  • This will show a different screen on your digital display and will loop round about every 4 seconds or so, you can also continue pressing 6 on your keypad to move the screen forward until it shows R01.
  • 8 digits will then be displayed, for example 0023453.3 (fig. A) this is your meter reading in kWh.
  • Make a note of this reading. We only need the digits before the decimal place. Don’t worry if you don’t catch the reading, the screens will cycle through.
  • The digital screen will continue to cycle through, until it shows R02, or you can continue pressing 6 on your keypad to move the screen forward until it shows R02.
  • 8 digits will then be displayed, for example 0024535.6 (fig. B) this is your meter reading in kWh.
